SCHOLARSHIP:  AGR HAS 3.17 GPA FOR SPRING SEMESTER


Scholarship is important to Alpha Gamma Rho.  AGR brothers excelled academically Spring Semester 2010 with a fraternity GPA of 3.17.  The all Fraternity average was 2.98 and the all Men's Average was 2.96.  During Fall Semester 2009, AGR actives had a comulative GPA of 2.87, ranking seventh among UT fraternities.  For Spring Semester 2009, AGR's GPA was 3.04, ranking 4th among UT Fraternities.  AGR's 3.04 GPA was higher than the All-Fraternity average of 2.95 and the UT men's average of 2.92. AGR's cummulative GPA for Fall Semester 2008 was 2.91 compared to the All-Fraternity average of 2.81.  AGR has mandatory study hours for all new members and actives whose GPA falls below the chapter average.

 
AGR RECOGNIZES BROTHERS EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOM

Four Alpha Kappa brothers received recognition and cash awards from the Alpha Kappa Alumni Association at the 2010 Parents-Founder Day banquet April 18.  Daniel Hale was recognized as having the most improved grades for Spring 2009 and Taylor Blount was recognized as having the most improved grades for the Fall of 2009.  Daniel Hale also had the highest GPA in the chapter for Spring 2009.  Ben Collins was recognized as having the highest GPA in the chapter for Fall 2009.  Will Hightower was recognized as having the highest GPA for members initiated during Spring Semester 2009 while Scott Atkins was recognized as having the highest member grades for Fall 2009.

 

  ALPHA GAMMA RHO SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN AND TRANSFER STUDENTS

Alpha Kappa Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho at the University of Tennessee is offering two $1,000.00 scholarships to incoming male freshmen and transfer students who have confirmed their admission to the University of Tennessee College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources or met the membership eligibilty of Alpha Gamma Rho:

All men pursuing an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in agriculture, food, fiber, life sciences, natural resources, forestry, environmental or related agricultural fields, as well as men intending to pursue a career in these fields, are eligible for membership.

The deadline for applications to be eligible for these scholarships is June 15, 2010 (either emailed, faxed, or postmarked).  A copy of the application is attached.
