Water Wars

Alpha Kappa chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity annually holds the AGR Water Wars philanthropy to benefit the American Diabetes Association.  The event is a water balloon dodge ball tournament in which many of the sororities and fraternities on campus can participate.  Being a part of the great city of Knoxville we try to make it better in any way that we can. Contributing to local charities is one way we can help make a difference and see how it affects people here in our own community.

AGR Water Wars can not be accomplished without the support of generous sponsorship.  The Brothers at Alpha Gamma Rho hope that you can contribute in whatever way you can to our philanthropy event.  We hope to offer a great day of fun to the spectators and participants alike, but more importantly, we hope to be able to increase our donation to our charitable cause. We believe this can very easily be accomplished with the help from the business community here in the Knoxville area, and businesses that brothers have strong affiliations with.

 The rules of the game:

-  8 players per team

-  Each match can be up to 5 rounds of play. The team that wins 3 out of 5 rounds of play will     win the match. Each round will have a 5 minute time limit. In the result of a time expiration of a round, the winner will be decided by the team with the most active players. In the result of a tie, 2 extra minute will be added to a round.

-  Each team will be supplied with a certain amount of water balloons. More water balloons will be supplied if a team begins to run low on water balloons, which means each team will have an endless supply of balloons.

-  Each player must stay within the boundary lines of the field.

-  Each team may use three players to man a water balloon launcher in their base. These three players must stay on the water balloon launcher platform for the remainder of the round. Because of risk of injury, they may not shoot at opposing team members who have cross over the mid-line into their base. These members who are on the launcher can not be knocked out of the match by opposing players.

-  Like dodge ball or paint ball, if you are hit with a water balloon you will be out for the remainder of the round.

-  The objective: There are two ways to defeat your opponent; one is to eliminate all players on the opposing team by hitting them with a water balloon,(With the exception of the players who are using the launcher). The other is to strike the target on the on the opposing teams launching platform with a water balloon LAUNCHED FROM YOUR WATER BALLOON LAUNCHER.

-  There will be 4 referees; they will determine who is in and out for the round. They must be obeyed at all times, if one is not compliant with the referees then he or she may be asked to leave.

- All participants must sign a liability waver before they step onto the field.
